Lace (Overload) Giveaway!

Sometimes you just reach a point when enough is enough.  I've reached it!  I've been gathering old linens and lace and doilies for a long, long time.  As I cleaned and organized my "treasures" I could see that I had a lot of it!  So, I decided it was time to share.....you know how much I like to share!  Here we have 20 or so pieces of lace or doilies and three pair of gloves....and I'd love to share them with someone in a giveaway!

But if you want to enter ~ you have to share too!  Share ~ in your comment ~ what you'd do with the "treasures" if you won them!  That will get you one chance!!

If you share about my giveaway on your blog ~ that will get you chance # 2 to win!!

Two chances to win!!

The winner will be announced on September 22 ~ the first day of Autumn !

I can't wait to hear your ideas for using all this lacey goodness.  Good thing I kept a lot of my treasures for myself ~ I'm sure I'll be inspired by your comments to do some creating of my own!

  1. Hi, I want to make a bowl with the help of a little starch. Maybe hang a few over my kitchen sink at the window. Make a couple of throw pillows for the bed in my soon to be Shabby Chic guestroom. Hmmmmm, ideas just keep popping out.

Thanks for the chance to share in the joy of owning beautiful pieces of times past.

  2. Yikes, you are giving away all those beautiful doilies and gloves? Doilies on deep coloured velvet or creamy natural linen make gorgeous cushions I think, so I would probably do that with them. After having them around on my furniture for a while so that I can admire them and plan.

  3. Oh wow Marie!!!! My favorite things...lace, doilies and gloves. I have so many ideas in my head..I've seen a table runner made by stitching doilies together....I would like to make a small purse with layers and layers of lace and the gloves...I have them in my craft room hanging down from shelves...love the look. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for this bunch!!

  9. Those are some of the MOST wonderful and lovely pieces of vintage eye candy I have ever seen! I just got an amazing Marie Antoinette image from the Graphics Fairy that I want to make a fabric collage out of and these would be perfect for that. They would also be great on some collages I'm working on right now and I'm making an apron that is made up of vintage textiles that I've been having a hard time finding the right pieces for, I think you've got them, LOL. I would be honored to use those pieces in my artwork if I am chosen. And what a sweet blog you have here. Thanks for being such a generous and wonderful soul. Hope you have a great weekend!

  17. If I won some of this gorgeous lace, I would mail it to my 92 year old aunt who used to make these herself and use them all over her house. One day someone commented about them to her and added that they were no longer in style and that no one used them anymore. So she took all the beautiful doilies she made and threw them away! She has missed them ever since, but can no longer make them. So she would get them to dress up her home. She still lives by herself, by the way!

  19. Oh wow what to do with all that loveliness or better what couldn't you do with all that!
Well I have started making dolls and decorating them with bits of vintage lace adds so much beauty to them.
Some of those pieces of lace and embroidery would also look good just being the setting for some of my teacups.
Some would be used in shadowboxes with vintage photos!
I could go on all night.....

  24. Oh the possibilities! After laying them all out and just enjoying them...I'm thinking pocket pillows, using some in my crazy quilting (which I have just become addicted to), a cuff, and maybe starching some to form a bowl or cone. I would definitely love to be entered in this giveaway! I'm having a giveaway too, but today is the last day to enter...up until midnight central time! I'll be posting about your giveaway as soon as I leave here. Connie

  25. Oh what a wonderful giveaway....I would love to win all these lovely doilys and gloves. I didnt get to keep my Mothers gloves after she passed away and I still wished I had got them so winning these gloves would be the best thing for me. But mind you I adore the lace doilys and would have them around my house just to make it look lovely. I might sew them onto cushions or onto blocks and make a quilt too. Thanks for the chance to win :)

  33. You are soooo generous to share some of your doilies, lace, and gloves. I have read some of the comments above and these ladies sound very talented. Since I have a hard time cutting up doilies, I would use them as shaws and collars on my dolls and Santas. I also like using them for kissing balls at Christmas. The lace would be great on strawberry sachets. Whoever wins has a bucket load of ideas from this post. Good luck. (Your giveaway has been posted on my blog as well).

  37. I LOVE antique lace....first off, I would just look at it, feel it, smell it (crazy huh?) It might take me a while to figure out what to do with it, but the holidays are coming, maybe make some ornaments with them, as well as decorate little nooks and crannies. I would love to win....but good luck to everyone else too!!!

(I have put a link on my sidebar)

  41. What a lovely giveaway and a lovely blog. What would I do with them?? After fondling them (I’m sure you understand), I would separate them and let each one tell me what they wanted - a place on a crazy quilt block, or perhaps framed or placed on a pillow..... and truthfully, many I would probably share or sell. That’s why I am asking NOT to be put in the giveaway! Because I have so many vintage doilies, laces and linens that I need to de-stash myself. And we want someone else to experience the joy and beauty!! But it was fun to IMAGINE, LOL!!! Good luck! Hugs, Cathy

  42. What a wonderful treasure. I would use them to decorate pillows, towels, aprons, curtains, and crazy quilting. They might get laid over the top of a small lampshade or just be used on the table when I have friends to tea. They could be used to make rubbings to use in cardmaking or scrapbooking. Believe me, they would be used!

  43. BEAUTIFUL!! Hmm I would most likely use them for these messenger bags or coin purses I love to make :)

  44. Hi, guess what I was the first to leave a comment, but it isn't here. I said hat I would use all the wonderful 'pretties to make my Christmas presents. I have MS and can't get out to search thrift shops or yard sales, There is a lot of lace for sale on e-bay, but very little of the vintage variety, (at least, not in my price range.) Oh boy, if I was lucky enough to win I'd make lavender sachets, mini pillows, CQ purses, I just hope this message doesn't disappear too. Blessings

  48. GASP! How nice of you to give these lil' treasures away. The fiance & I have been practically living at Goodwill hunting down vintage goodies for our upcoming wedding. I haven't been able to find some lovely doilies though. My vision was to place a doilie or two under our centerpieces which consists of lil' birdies, milk glass, a wine bottle. and some DIY shabby chic frames that I made into table numbers. Crossing my fingers & toes...
