Random Monday Memories

This is one of our cats...his name is Bailey. He was named after George Bailey in "It's A Wonderful Life". Generally speaking Bailey has had a wonderful life. He just kind of hangs out and sheds. If you tell him to move and nudge him with your foot to confirm that you mean it ~ he just seems to plant himself more firmly wherever he happens to be. All 23 plus pounds of him decides it's time to "hunker down"!

Hun´ker down
v. 1. to crouch or squat; to sit on one's haunches.
2. to settle in at a location for an extended period; - also (figuratively)
to maintain a position and resist yielding to some pressure,
as of public opinion

He is such a slow motion kind of cat ~ unless someone leaves a door open and he attempts an escape to the great outdoors! Then he moves like lightening! Bailey is an indoor cat and he knows it's best not to stray too far from his food source. Although he did catch himself a mouse once. He was so proud ~ he'd never caught a mouse before after all! We, however, were less than impressed. You see the mouse had already been caught by a trap ~ Bailey proudly trotted around with the trap in his mouth and the mouse in the trap!

Have you ever had, what seemed at the time, a really good idea and then it didn't turn out exactly as you had envisioned? I did ~ and this was it.
Bailey's a big, fluffy lump of a cat and he sheds constantly, he also gets tangles in his fur easily and he does that hairball thing regularly. So I thought it would be a good idea to get him groomed and trimmed. So off to the vet he went. I told the groomer it would be nice if he looked more like the short-haired cat that he is. I can't believe they call this guy a short-haired cat, but they do! Anyway, whatever picture I had in my head of how he would look after the "trim" was wrong. I'll say it now ~ he didn't deserve this. I'm still (two years later) apologizing to him. I'll never do it again. I promise! Fortunately (?) it all grew back!

Sorry Bailey!

Here's a picture of one of Bailey's dreams.....
