"UN" -Clutter!

"Rescue me from this eternal confusion of belongings (mine and other people's) that just won't stay orderly. This suffocation of phone calls, clubs and committees...This choke of bills and papers and magazines and junk mail. I buy too many things, subscribe to too many things, belong to too many things. The result is such confusion ~ I can't really enjoy or do justice to anything!
Deliver me from some of this Lord. Help me to stop bewailing this clutter and work out some plan for cutting down. Give me the will power to stop buying things we don't really need....And give, oh give me the will power to get rid of a lot of things we already have....And while I'm at it Lord, help me to unclutter my mind. Of regrets and resentments and anxieties, of idiotic dialogues and foolish broodings.

Sweep it clean and free.
Make it calm and quiet.
Make it orderly.

~~:::~~

I have quite a few books with pretty water color & acrylic paintings, sweet quotes and special stories. Books by authors like Susan Branch, Mary Engelbreit and Karla Dornacher. Every now and then I pull one off the bookshelf and read through it ~ maybe for inspiration ~ but tonight just for relaxation. (It was a busy weekend afterall!) Last night I chose one called The Charm of Simple Things and it wasn't long before I stopped on the page where I found the words typed above. It's a prayer I could have written...the words are so close to my heart ~ but it was written by Marjorie Holmes and it's in her book called Lord Let Me Love. I might have changed a couple things & added a few others, but for the most part it's my life right now. I long to "sweep it clean and free". Yes, the stuff around me but even more so my mind.
I'm off to get a broom.

I could have written that prayer, too. I sometimes feel completely overwhelmed! I have too many and too much!
