Random Monday Memory

How many of you Girl Scouts remember these clever items?
That's right! It's a Sit-upon! We made these for our camping trips and bonfires. They worked well, if this memory serves me correctly!

Visit basketmakers.org for instructions on how to make your own.
Just think about those cold metal benches you have to sit on if you attend any children/grandchildren sporting events! One of these would be great to have along!!

Many thanks to Jacqueline at Once Upon a Fairyland for her post The Perfect Sit-Upon.
It inspired this one.

I was a Camp Fire Girl, not a Girl Scout in the 60's. We made sit-upons using a magazine which we covered in oilcloth and hand stitched...I'm sure we got a badge for that. It was waterproof and wiped right off if your marshmallow dropped on it.

I was a girl scout up till my senior year in high school and I remember sit-upons. The ones we made had newspaper covered with oil cloth canvas. I had forgotten all about them till this. I think mine was yellow. :)

I was never a Girl Scout so I found this sit-upon project pretty nifty!

I made one of those at Brownie Camp when I was a young girl. I still remember that vividly too.
