It's Painted!

We got new carpeting, in our bedrooms, a few weeks ago. Since most of the furniture was emptied, and moved out, it seemed like the perfect time to get some furniture painting done too.  First piece to be painted was the baby chifferobe in the guest room.  It's been in the family since I was a baby. My mom gave it to me when my first child was born.  It came with a natural wood finish, got stained dark brown, painted white, and now it's a wonderful strawberry pink!  I love it...it was well worth the (couple years) wait!  Thanks Bill!

New carpet and new paint led to a bit of re-arranging too.

I love these little statues...one for each grandbaby!
"The Bird" is a favorite of mine. I made it to sell...but just had to keep instead.

This is where my mom stays when she visits us....hopefully another visit will
happen sometime this summer!

I love all the colors in this room. Bright and cheery...it makes me happy!

Just in case you're wondering...it's Behr paint, and the color is Shangri La.  I love it!!

My Mom's Visit

I can't believe my mom has been here almost a week already.  She heads for home on Saturday.
We had family fun on Sunday, and she and Bill relaxed Monday while I went to work. On Tuesday, Katie, Mandy and Bill joined my mom and I for a drive to Frederick, MD. We visited an antique mall and a couple thrift stores, and had a great lunch at Brewer's Alley.  Yesterday was a Scrabble day...and lunch at Costco. Sure can't beat $1.59 for lunch!!

This is the room she stays in...and this is also where I put one of those $20.00 quilts I shared with you.  The colors are absolutely perfect in here!!  I love this room...it's so cheerful!

One of my favorite displays in this room is hanging on the wall.
Six little statues all in a row.  We added the six statue about a month ago. I love this little display!!

Jacqi made the cute little coaster for me.  It's the perfect spot for a bedside drink.

Mandy arranged the flowers for her gramma.

It's nice to have a guest in the guest room....especially when it's my mother.
Hope Saturday doesn't come too quickly!!

A Perfect Gift

Surely I'm not the only one who buys "a perfect gift"
without having a clue who it's going to be given to.

That's what I did when I saw this adorable container.  The words "with gratitude" and the sweet image caught my eye.  I actually thought, "I don't care what's inside it, I love the packaging that much!

So I bought it...a couple months ago.
It's been sitting on my dresser ever since.

Well, yesterday I gifted it to someone....Me!
Yes, I decided that I loved the packaging
so much that I wanted to keep it.

I loved what was inside too!
Amazing Grace perfumed shampoo, bath & shower gel.
It smells so pretty and so clean, and it looks perfect in my guest room.
It actually was "a perfect gift"!!

Speaking of perfect gifts...look what else I added to the guest room.  WISH! This wish was a gift from my dear friend Gail.  Actually it was the card that came with the gift she sent.  She ALWAYS finds the best cards.  I popped this one in a frame...gotta love instant art!!

New Art for the Guest Room

I found a new piece of wall art for our guest room, at Ikea!  I may frame it at some point, but for now these oversized clips work just fine.

I love this colorful space!

The heart garland was a 90% off after Valentine's Day bargain...and the basket on the chair was 70% off after Easter. Both were purchased at Target.

Love that the print is a perfect match!

Best part about it?  It only cost $5.00!!

Daisy Chain

I took the hearts down...then I wondered what I would replace them with.
Last Thursday I went to my favorite thrift store and found a daisy chain. It was marked $1.91....and it was Thursday. That means it was 25% off day!!  So it ended up being less than $1.50 including tax!  It was the perfect length...it makes me smile!
What a deal!

Unexpected Art

There was a small area (right below the blue flower) that needed a bit of art work.
A trip to the Dollar Section at Target solved the problem.

I found this sweet little greeting card....and it's the perfect fit!
Love that dollar stuff!!  Love my guest room too!

Hope you have a sun shiny day!
(even it's gloomy outside!)

Guest Room

I don't think this room is ever going to be finished.  But it's 95% there.
So how about a little tour. Come on in!

I still want to add "grandbaby photos" on the wall to the left of this window.

This is the little chifferobe that has yet to be painted. I've bought the paint...now if only the weather and time would cooperate with me.
The paint color matches the darker "daisies" in the fabric to the right.

Love my little "HOME" block!

Remember this bird? This room is the perfect home for him.

My daughter-in-law, Jacqi, made the yellow crocheted daisy chain for me. Love it!

This is the spot the grandbabies head to....they love Gramma's books!

I was about 2 inches short of pom pom trim for this lamp shade....cute blue flower to the rescue!

I recovered an old tin sign with paper, added pom pom trim (made this before the lampshade), and a large sticker that says family, to create the sign on top. Red gingham covers a straw wreath, and crocheted flowers brighten it up. The giraffe print is actually a greeting card ~ $1.50 at Michael's.

I bought this chipboard FAMILY at Hobby Lobby, and covered it with gift wrap from the dollar section at Target. When I hung itup I realized I already used the word "family" on the tin sign. Family means a lot to me, but I think I may change the sticker on the sign.

I found this spool pattern quilt at an antique store a few years ago....it was a bargain at $15.00!

I love my light fixture...in fact I bought a second one to use in another bedroom. The reflections on the ceiling and walls just make me happy.

The headboard is an old gate and the gate latch poked out a bit....this hanky and cute teddy stand guard and keep it safe.

I'm really pleased with the way the room has turned out...it makes me smile.
