Visions of Cushiony Cookies

I have a November 1948 issue of Good Housekeeping. You can see the front cover of it in this post. It's fun to see how much has changed since then. The clothes, furniture, products & prices!
I found the entire (black & white) magazine online at Cornell University if you'd like to see for yourselves. But for your immediate viewing pleasure I scanned a couple pages to include with this post.
I thought these pages might inspire me to bake up a storm this Christmas. I'm not a baker but it says these are "double-quick" cookies! Not just quick ~ double quick!

The description of the cookies intrigues me.
Merry Christmas Cookies...soft, cushiony cookies...a Christmas delight!
I want some cushiony cookies!

I might have to try these!
And look at this! A Picture Cooky Book for only 25 cents!! But oh no ~ the offer expired ~ on June 1, 1949!

I love looking through old magazines and/or cookbooks. "Cushiony" cookies sound interesting, don't they??? Your magazine dates from near the time my older brother was born. Hope you have a nice weekend.

I know why they're called "Cushiony" cookies... cause when you eat too many they provide extra padding where you rather not have it ;)

I love LDH's comment! The old magazines are so much fun to look through. Times sure were different back then. I don't think things were neccessarily easier but I think the quality of products was better. 1948-hmmmm-the year before I was born!

Marie, life is full of miracles and whimsy for sure. Tonight I picked up a LOOK magazine with an article on Julie Andrews from the Sound of Music...I was looking at the ads too, and then you post about them, not more than 30 minutes later. There's more to this story...It was Julie that attracted me but I have the theme song from Bewitched on my blog but I don't have a thing from Bewitched. By the time I brought the magazine home and opened it, not only was there Julie but also Bewitched. And folks wonder how we find all these idea's to blog...I don't seem to be in control at all of anything...smile! I'll be posting it pretty soon for you to see.
