Michigan Part Three

The food and the shopping were definitely a high point of our trip to Michigan in August...but it truly was all about the people.  Family to be exact!

MacKenzie

Charlotte

Vincent

From my Mom to the youngest great-grandchild we number forty-five!  Thirty two of us were together on the Saturday we were there...including nine of her great grandchildren.  Not bad for a trip that wasn't planned months in advance!

Sebastian

Abby

Brayden

Just sitting around and visiting was such fun.  But the very best time was had by six of the great-grandchildren (and my brother, my daughter, and me)!  My brother John does the best stuff with his grandchildren!!  While we were visiting he took them on an adventure...a treasure hunt to be exact. Lucky Charlotte got to join in!  So did Katie and I...I'm not sure who was the most excited!!

She can't take her eyes off the map!

The adventure begins...

She was SO excited!

The first X.

Vincent found an X.

This adventure was hard work.

Digging for treasure.

X marks the spot!

The lot next to Papa's house was just made for adventures!

Sebastian carefully filled up the hole.

MacKenzie is wondering exactly what treasure is hiding in those bags they dug up.

The adventure has ended.

Our treasure seekers were victorious!!

Passing out the bounty.

Squirt guns for everyone!!!

This adventure involved a map, shovels, multiple Xs, and the aforementioned treasure.  The participants, besides those already mentioned, included Bella, the adventure guide; Sebastian, the designated digger; and Abigail, McKenzie and Vincent who, like Charlotte, were treasure seekers!

This group had a blast following the map, finding the "X", and then digging up the treasure....and what a treasure it was!  Squirt guns for all!  Including Lulu and Noah too!  Papa John is the best!!

Before the family gathering ended we managed to get some fun photos of my Mom and those great-grandchildren present....it wasn't easy, but it was fun!

My mom with nine of her fourteen great grandchildren.

Sweet treats!

A photo of the photographers...Ha!

We love you GGma!

My Mom

Today is an extra-special day...it's my mother's birthday!!

Happy Birthday to You.
Happy Birthday to You.
Happy Birthday to my Momma.
Happy Birthday to You!!

I love her...a bunch, and I wish we lived near each other.
We'd be going to Red Lobster for a birthday lunch today if we did, and she'd be ordering Stuffed Flounder! Then we'd go out for some custard ice cream, and afterwards home for a game of Scrabble.
That's what we'd do if we lived near each other!
But we don't. I'll give her a call sometime today...and wish her the best birthday ever!  And I'll thank God for giving me such a great mom.  And I'll miss her...a bunch!

This is my Mom with her grandson Mike, and his godson Brayden.
Brayden is my Mom's newest great grandchild...number 14!
Mike is one of her 14 grandchildren!
I'm the only one of her children who "left home" so she still has a lot of family nearby...and she loves that!

I hope you have an excellent day Mom!
I hope it's just as special as you!!

Visit HERE to see more blog posts about "My Mom".

Thank you to Brayden's mommy for this photo!
I "borrowed" it from her Facebook page.

Happy Birthday to You!

Today is my mom's birthday!!
Happy Birthday to You!!
Being far apart makes it tough, but this year will be a little easier. We're heading to Michigan for a very quick visit. I'll get to see my mother this coming Sunday!  I hope you have a extra special day Mom!!  Love you a bunch. See you soon!

I know I just shared this photo on Mother's Day...but it's my favorite photo of the two of us.
I need to make sure to get an update while I'm there.

It's Painted!

We got new carpeting, in our bedrooms, a few weeks ago. Since most of the furniture was emptied, and moved out, it seemed like the perfect time to get some furniture painting done too.  First piece to be painted was the baby chifferobe in the guest room.  It's been in the family since I was a baby. My mom gave it to me when my first child was born.  It came with a natural wood finish, got stained dark brown, painted white, and now it's a wonderful strawberry pink!  I love it...it was well worth the (couple years) wait!  Thanks Bill!

New carpet and new paint led to a bit of re-arranging too.

I love these little statues...one for each grandbaby!
"The Bird" is a favorite of mine. I made it to sell...but just had to keep instead.

This is where my mom stays when she visits us....hopefully another visit will
happen sometime this summer!

I love all the colors in this room. Bright and cheery...it makes me happy!

Just in case you're wondering...it's Behr paint, and the color is Shangri La.  I love it!!

Tunnels of Fun

My Mom gave the "littles" some special treats for Easter.
They three big "littles" got some fun tunnels to play with.
They were a hit!!

Elijah shared his with Caleb too.
Here's a peek at Caleb standing in the tunnel.
 Love this photo!

Caleb got a really neat puzzle from his Great-Gramma...little doors with magnets inside.
He'll enjoy this a bunch!

But the tunnels got the most attention.
Both inside the house and out.

Fletcher and Lulu got some puzzles too....but no turn in the tunnels.  Maybe next year.
They just spent the day sitting around, looking really cute!
They both do that so very well!

Kinda feels like they're watching you, doesn't it?
