Easter Eggs

Easter Egg decorating couldn't have been easier at my house
this year...thanks to Walmart and Target!

First I found these "Decorating Easter Eggs" at Walmart.
Plain white, dyeable, lightweight eggs....and only $1.98!

A few days later I found these Egg Wraps at Target...$3.00 for the package.

Eggs plus wraps plus a pot of boiling water and a spoon later and I have
some really pretty, unbreakable decorative eggs.
Ms. Chick and I are very happy!

I love the bright, cheery colors!

If you're counting, you may have noticed that there are only eleven eggs.
Sadly, one of the wraps slipped and then sealed around the end of one of the eggs.
I guess it took the place of the boiled one I usually break each year...

Time to Get Crackin'

I don't do much in the way of Easter decorating.  Mostly just some decorated eggs and springy flowers.  But this year I added a couple new pieces of Easter decor. I mean who could resist these!

I think the egg may stay out year round. I can always use a little encouragement to get crackin'!

Happy Monday!

Back to Normal

Yep...life is good!
I love it when things are back to normal.
When everything is in it's place.

Things have been out of place for several weeks.
I took down all the Christmas decorations mid January.  But I left all the spaces empty.

I left all my everyday decorations packed in boxes. Wasn't quite sure what I wanted to put where.  Plus there was a definite lack of motivation to unpack those boxes.

So we had a lot of empty flat surfaces. Highly unusual in this house!  If it's flat it tends to get stuff stacked on it.  But not this time.  Things just stayed empty.

Finally even Bill was commenting on the blank spaces in the living room and dining room.  So I decided it was time to get out those boxes and fill up those spaces.  I discovered that I had a lot of really nice things packed up.
(how quickly we forget...after all the stuff wasn't packed away that long!)

I love that nothing has a specific spot...I can rearrange from year to year.  Use something in a different way and in a different space.  It's a good thing too...I would have a hard time remembering where I used something previously!

There's a real eclectic feel in my house.  I love bright colors...and that's what's in most of the rooms.  But the living and dining room lean more toward warm colors.

There are a lot of warm wood finishes on the furniture...and lots of red and green decorative pieces.  Red and green! My favorite color combination!

I lean towards vintage, country, primitive accessories.  I love using old books to decorate with....especially red and green ones!

But I've really been trying to move a little of the bright, cheery colors into this space.  So I'm using a lot of natural colored doilies and runners...it's amazing how much that brightens things up!

I've even started using my third favorite color in these rooms.  Deep aqua blue.  I'm finally paying attention to the color inspiration towel my daughters gave me two years ago!

I found a great picture at Hobby Lobby several months ago. I think it's the perfect touch.  The aqua color is working...along with the red and green. Oh yes, and the sunflower gold as well!

Here's the towel in question.  My daughters are pretty smart. This towel has inspired my decorating in multiple spaces...including this bedroom!

My Work is Done!

It wouldn't be Christmas if Hank didn't join in the fun!
I think he looks great this year!!

Shiny garland wrapped antlers are his look, don't ya think!?

Yep...Hank decorating was a success this year!
Even my boss said that Hank looks good!

Fabulous I say!!

Candy Corn

Isn't this tree the cutest thing!
I don't do much in the way of Halloween decorating...but who could resist this sweet little thing!

Time For A Change

This is some of what's decorating my dining room these days (and a lot of days in the past too).  I think it's time to make some changes...maybe some brighter colors, maybe a simpler look.  I'm not real sure about what kind of changes, but I don't want to spend any much money!  Time to shop my basement...and maybe a thrift store or yard sale too!
Stay tuned.....

This Little Piggy

It's always fun to stop by Michael's at the end of any given season.  They mark their prices down a lot when the time for new seasonal merchandise is near.  That was the case when I stopped in several weeks ago and found this cute little pig.

I paid less than $3.00 for it...the bit of greenery was from my stash at home.

I don't put fall decorations out until the end of September....this little guy gets to enjoy living on the dining room table until then.

The old runner is one of my favorites...$3.00 at a local thrift store!

My New House

It's a cute house...but definitely too small for me to live in!
Bright and simple...that's the look I seem to gravitate towards these days.  I found this colorful little house at Hobby Lobby...and I used a 40% off coupon on it too!

I don't get to Hobby Lobby very often...but when I do, I usually find some treasures....like these.
Do you have a Hobby Lobby near you...found any treasures of your own lately?
