Less is More

Every now and then, an old already known truth hits me in a brand new way.  And then it convicts me...in a mighty way.  Then I beat "myself up" for not doing things differently...and then I stop the abuse.  Because God doesn't need all the years I wasted.  He just wants me to take that conviction and run with it now.

Here's where it started this time...on this beautiful blog post......
a holy experience

"The Farmer says it about his sons and his daughters, about us:“Whether you have much or little, the truth will just tell you plain: the only wealth you’ll ever have is God.”
Do any of us need more than that?
“The things is… When we think about what we want to leave for our children — Less is more.”
I nod slow.
Less goods can let there be more God.
Whenever you think you need more of this world, you lay out a welcome mat for the enemy.
When it comes to our legacy, to our lives, to our longings —  less is always more.
We get out of bed and do what comes first.
We bow our heads.
And the emptiness of hands surrendered can fill with God."

Less stuff, less busyness, less me.
More Him.
In Him....I'm complete, my children are complete, my grandchildren are complete.
That's the legacy I desire.

Our Daily Bread - Prayer

Life has been very busy since I last posted.  We had a wonderful visit with my mother.  Too short, very busy and lots of fun!!  We celebrated a birthday, took a day trip and the whole bunch went out to dinner one night.  Mom and I even did a bit of babysitting. There was never a dull moment.  We may have worn her out, but I think Bill "tricked" her into agreeing to come again in October...that's something for us to look forward to.!!
I was also in a craft show this past weekend....I made a little cash, spent a little cash, and enjoyed visiting with friends.  I didn't make a lot of things for this show...there just wasn't time.  But I did manage to make a few new things and I also decorated a jar and filled it with goodies. It's on the way to Oliva, my "Vintage Jar Swap" partner.  Photos of all these things will be posted next week.

Yesterday I enjoyed a wonderful program at my church....music and drama about the final days of Jesus Christ's life here on earth. It was beautiful, it was powerful and it got me thinking about my "One Little Word" for this year.  Time.  I'm not spending enough time with the Lord...the busyness of life is clouding my vision again.  So this week I'm going to post excerpts from Our Daily Bread each day.  It'll help keep me focused.  I'll also be sharing photos that I took last week...when my mom, my daughters and I visited Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania.

Longwood is full of beautiful flowers....God's handiwork....it's amazing!

"For those who follow Jesus Christ, it is also a mistake to view the remarkable as ordinary. Think about prayer for instance. At any moment we can talk to the Creator God who spoke the universe into existence! Not only are we welcomed into His presence, but we are invited to enter boldly: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16)."

I'm linking up with Lorraine's blog as we "Think on These Things".
As I think on prayer.

Make it a Happy Day

I woke up a bit cranky yesterday morning.  No particular reason...I just had a whole lot of things to get done and I woke up with the "to-do list" in my head.  Just thinking about it was causing me stress and I was ready to concede defeat before the day really began.

But then the Lord "popped" a verse into my head ~ don't ya love when He does that!  I realized that I was a whole lot more likely to accomplish things on my list if I decided to get happy about it. It worked! I checked three things off the list!!  The secret? I chose to be happy....simple as that.

"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bone."
Proverbs 17:22

I'm linking up to "Think on these things".

"Has God impressed on your heart something special this week?
Was there a Scripture verse, a song, a quote, a poem or an encouraging word that came your way and caused you to pause."

Lorraine would love for you to share it!

Hope

Where there were questions,
Jesus came along and answered them-
Yes, I love you.
Yes, there's hope.
Yes, all things are possible
in peace, in rest...in Me.

Photo taken by me in Katie's yard last summer.

I'm linking this post up with Lorraine at A Grateful Heart and a Thankful Prayer. She's had this lovely idea that we share those precious treasures from the Lord, the ones we find in scripture, quotes, poems or messages, with one another. We can do it by linking our encouraging posts up to her "Think on these things..." post.   Such a wonderful way to start the week....don't you think?
