Random Monday Memories

I remember the first time we took our children to Walt Disney World. It was in April of 1987. I spent weeks (maybe even months) preparing for this trip. I made 28 pair of shorts ~ seven for each of them. "JAMS" ~ that's what they were called! Almost every pair was different. The girls had a couple pair of matching shorts, but otherwise all were different! I bought t-shirts and tank tops to match the shorts, packed a couple pair of long pants and jackets and their Disney World wardrobes were almost complete. They each got new swimsuits and flip flops or sandals and the packing was done. They looked great and we had a blast!!

Kevin has never visited the mouse again and Joe has returned once. However, Katie (nine times) and Mandy (six times) have made WDW their home away from home. They (along with Katie's husband Mark) LOVE WDW. It can take them months to plan a trip or (as I just found out) they can do it in a matter of days. Disney is offering a lot of very good deals right now and my daughters found some of the best ones......so......we're going to Disney World!! It will be eight-month old Charlotte's first trip! Since she's so young, Momma, Daddy, Aunt Mandy, Grampa & Gramma must go along so we can experience it all with her and tell her all about it when she's older. Perhaps it might have been better to simply wait until she was older ~ but where would the fun have been in that? Besides, we're saving so much money by going now! (I keep telling myself that!)

Anyway - they decided last Wednesday (the 31st) that we would be leaving for WDW on Jan 14th! Everyone got their vacation days approved, they booked airfare and made reservations and we're off to see the mouse!! My (still stuffed up) head is spinning ~ this is not how I plan for vacations! Plus we have a 1st birthday party (Elijah) and a baby shower (Jacqi) before we leave! But it's all good ~ I'll just sit back and let the plans be made, I'll do what I'm told to do, be where I'm told to be, and in ten (yikes!) days I'll be off to "the happiest place on earth". I'm sure Charlotte will have a blast!

OH! Lucky you! Chris tried to convince me to do the same thing, head down to WDW for his and James's b-days at the end of the month, using the Stay Three Nights Free deal. Unfortunatly it is not in our budget right now, but oh how I wish it was!

Oh wow! How exciting! good on you for just "doing it" and being spontaneuos! Hubs and I went to the one in L.A (is that WDW or Disney Land?)and had a ball. It was one of the best fun days we have ever had I think!
Just thank goodness you won't be doing all that sewing this time around!!

Oh what fun Marie! I think it's great that you're being spontaneous and enjoying the journey! Love the photos of the children and reading how you made them each 7 pairs of shorts. Just lovely.

Blessings,
