Red, Red Robin

I found this little Robin at a Spring Art & Craft show I recently went to. It reminds me of my childhood ~ growing up in Michigan. The Robin is Michigan's state bird. I remember pictures of robins, their blue eggs and sweet nests decorating the classrooms in my school.

As I was "googling" to read and see more about Michigan's State Bird I came across a photo set on Flickr. The photos tell a picture story about a Robin's nest. Empty to full to empty again. There's also a link to a "word" story about the nest. It's such a nice story. You should read it if you get a chance to.

"For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings."
Psalm 61:3-4

I don't think I have ever seen a Robin since we moved into this house. It seems like you would always see them everywhere. The big bird here is Cardinals. I bet we have a dozen pairs around here.

*hugs*

I love watching the robins at this time of year..I think they're mating because they've been chasing each other all around. We have 2 nests in the supports under our deck..it will be interesting to see if they are "home" to someone this Spring.

I also grew up in MI (Clarkston) and love spring. Out here in SEattle we have Robins, but miss the Cardinals. Sprng brings back all kinds of childhood memories. Aren't the eggs and their color beautiful. Have a great day.

We had a robins nest in our forsythia bush last year. It was fun to watch them grow but it sure did make mama bird crazy when we got too close to where the nest was.

Marie, thank you so much for sharing the link to the nest story. I read it all tonight and I'm going to reread it with my kids tomorrow. Such beauty in nature.

Precious post. Robins are very special to me. My mom loved them and at her memorial at the Fairyland one flew in and sat beside the Pastor through the whole memorial.
