Bathroom #2 Makeover - After

We just got back from a trip...I was especially excited to return because the
bathroom remodel took place while I was away.  Remember the Before Post?
Well, this is what I found when I got home Saturday night!

I LOVE it!
We just need to decide on a mirror and shower curtain, and then all the finishing touches will take place.  That painting on the toilet is the inspiration for this room....it will hang above the toilet.

I couldn't wait to share photos of the new room...but I'm still going to be taking a little break.  I need to recover from my vacation, upload the 2300 plus photos I took, and get this bathroom back in order.  If you'd like a peek at what I've been up to you can click on the photos of Katie, Mandy and Christine on the sidebar.  That will take you to their Instagram photos.

My Tweedles - My Girls

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum....nearly identical in every way.
Katie and Mandy are such good daughters...they humor me and pose for this picture whenever we go to Downtown Disney.  This is from our February trip.
They're not identical....they're not even twins. Although they regularly get asked that question.  There's definitely a difference in their looks in this photo. Katie's the one on the left...she's rockin' the baby bump!  My fifth grandbaby will be here in less than two months!!!

Their tee shirts say:

"It's Kind of Fun to Do the Impossible."

"To All Who Come to This Happy Place: Welcome."

Disney 2013

Our recent Walt Disney World trip was Elijah's and Caleb's first time there.  With the exception of a couple days of Elijah not feeling well, I think they had a great time!

I'm not sure who the boys are looking at...but Joe and Daisy are smiling for the WDW photographer!

An evening on the boardwalk....

Caleb wasn't real fond of the puppets we found in "China'.

Caleb did not like looking at the characters....not even Mickey!

No trip is complete without a whirl in the tea-cups!

Attention!!

Phineus, Ferb, and friends.

On our marathon WDW trips you nap whenever and wherever you can!

Disney Trip 2013

Then and Now (and Then)

The first time my dear family of six went to Walt Disney World was in April of 1987.
Here's a photo of my four children back then.
Clockwise starting with Mickey: Joe, Kevin, Katie, and Mandy.

Each of them has returned to WDW at least once since then.
In February of this year...for the first time in 26 years...all four of them were there again.
I have good kids...the four of them agreed to pose with Mickey once more.

Oh my goodness.....where has the time gone?   Such sweet memories!

Disney Trip 2013

Our Disney Trip was a lot of fun...including the "getting there" part of it.
Here's a few scenes at the airport....sorry for the blurry photos!

This was Elijah's first trip to Disney...he was super excited!

Penelope was super excited too...she just isn't showing it right now. : )

Fourteen people travel with a lot of luggage.

Charlotte thought having Caleb on a leash was really funny.
She and Elijah took turns taking him for a walk.

Yes...she's still super excited...but it's very early...she's also a little cranky.

Katie and Bill got to ride child free....Daddy & Nana sat with Charlotte.

Aunt Mandy got to sit with Caleb and his mommy.

I sat with Elijah and his daddy. Elijah thoroughly studied the safety guide.

We're off!!!

Here we are at the Orlando airport...love that Mickey was there to welcome us!
As usual...I'm taking the photo!
Until next Wednesday........

Disney Trip 2013

The first week of February my entire family (plus Katie's mum-in-law) went to Florida to visit the Mouse.  We've been planning and saving for this trip for two years!  I took more than 3000 pictures...sadly they didn't turn out as well as I hoped.  But I still got some fun photos to share.  I'm going to take my time doing that though.  Since most of them feature the four shortest people in our group, I've decided to feature them on Wednesdays...my regular grandbaby day!  Here's a few to get us started.

Here' s the whole bunch of us, including Katie's "mum-in-law" from England.  We were so blessed to be able to enjoy six full days and two half days staying at Walt Disney World.  This photo was taken on our final full day.....and look! Most of us are still smiling!!  We all had a good time.
Look at Caleb trying to get a peek at Mickey.

Penelope, Elijah, and Charlotte had a great time. I know all the adults in our group wish they had half the energy that "the littles" do....and many of us wished we had a stroller to relax in when we didn't want to walk anymore. I was very happy that we had four strollers to choose from when I needed something to hold me up at the end of each day!!

This little guy was really enjoying one of the Disney parades.  I wasn't sure how he would react to all the characters.  Up close....he wasn't too sure.  But from a distance....he was VERY excited!!

Okay...that was 3 of 3000. Guess I best get back to editing!

Family Room Part 4

Here's a final look at my family room...it's almost complete. I need to dress up the windows and add more family photos. You can never have too many photos!

The couch and loveseat are from IKEA. I love them...they are so comfy, and the slipcovers come off for easy washing!

I bought this window frame at a craft show just before Christmas.  It's backed with burlap and chicken wire. The basket was filled with greens and berries, and I clipped my Christmas cards to it. Now it's the perfect spot for springtime flowers and family photos.

We'll probably be replacing the wooden trunk with an old army footlocker that belonged to my father-in-law.  If we decide to keep the trunk, I'll paint it...maybe a mustard gold.

Bill bought this clock at one of the few craft shows he's attended with me. It just so happened to be the week of our anniversary (about 15 years ago) and he thought it was a great gift for me. He was right! I love it!!  We received the flag when his Dad passed away two years ago.

This flag is one of my favorite purchases from an artist at the craft shop I once co-owned.  It was made by a gal who rented space from us. I've lost touch with her now, but I have many of her pieces (you can see a couple of them in this post) and lots of great memories of her.

My whole family went to Walt Disney World the first week of February.  I haven't posted about the trip yet because I'm quite over-whelmed by the 3000 plus photos I took.  I've been to WDW multiple times, but never got my own "pair of ears" until this trip. Aren't these great!?  Perfect for displaying in our family room.

Now about those windows.....I sure could use a little help in deciding what to do with them.  They currently have pleated (white) fabric shades on them, and those will stay.  I was thinking about a simple burlap valance, but Bill wants something that comes down the sides of the windows.  Maybe white sheer panels...burlap panels?  With a valance...without?  I don't think I'd ever close whatever goes on the windows.  Any thoughts?

It's the Weekend!

Put on a happy face and make it a great one!!!

Brickley the sea monster is made out of 170,000 LEGO bricks and is 30 feet long.  You can find him swimming in the lagoon that's in front of the Lego store in Downtown Disney ~ Orlando, FL.

WDW - No Pictures Please!

I've shared many photos of Charlotte on my blog....proof that she loves to get her picture taken. At least she used to.  Right in time for our trip to Walt Disney World she decided she was done with all that paparazzi stuff..."No Pictures Please!" became her phrase of choice.

It started in the sky somewhere between our home and the home of the mouse!
"Charlotte, smile for Gramma...show me your new wings".
"No pictures please!"

I'm pretty sure Mickey was surprised when Charlotte told me and the Disney photographer...."No pictures please!"

We can pretend that she's just trying to keep the sun out of her eyes....but we know better!
"No pictures puhleeeeze!"

Of course the rest of them HAD to join in!
All together now...."No pictures please!"

All was not lost though.  Charlotte's momma and daddy bought her a beautiful Snow White costume. Look how sweet ~ she's actually posing for Gramma, with a wonderful little smile on her face.

But that's enough of that....it wasn't long until we were right back to "No pictures please!"  This is an attractive shot, don't you think!?

One of our Disney days was pretty cold.
So we got "No pictures please!" with gloves on.

Getting a little help from her momma!
"No pictures please!"

One of the high points of Charlotte's trip was getting her face painted.  She let Gramma take lots of pictures.  She sat perfectly still and obviously loved the finished look.

Sweet girl....thanks for smiling!  Better click the camera quickly.

And she's done.....
"No pictures please!"

Thankfully she sleeps and her parents and aunt walk away and leave us alone.  I got to snap some pictures of her pretty face with no one's hand in front of it.
